- HOW YOUR LAPEL PIN IS MADE:
- The pin is die-struck and stamped out
of iron metal.
This process creates recessed areas that can be plated. These recessed
areas are filled with enamel and separated by metals boarders. The pin
is then fired at high temperatures to harden. After firing the pin
surface is highly polished and smoothed creating the appearance of a
nice piece of jewelry. Due to the manufacturing process colors can not
blend together or fade into another color. Hard enamel pins are
excellent choice for any design that has clear color separation.
- HARD ENAMEL VS CLOISONNE PINS:
- Hard enamel pins are made in a similar
fashion to traditional cloisonne pins. The primary difference is the
material that is used to create the color fills in the pin. Traditional
cloisonne pins use a ground glass mixed with metals to achieve the
color. While this can produce a wide range of colors PMS color matching
is not available with this process. For hard enamel pins instead of a
glass mixture a polymer is used that allows us to match PMS color. This
also allows use to create a product with a high perceived value at a
more economical price.
